Tempremental Window Washer Pump

Is this a common thing? The pump only seems to work when it wants to. Oli came in t'other day and said it wasn't working so after a quick search on here, we went and checked the fuses (the easiest job on the list!) It was fine and when I tried them, they worked.
Was out yesterday and although nothing had changed since testing them, the pump wasn't working although 10 minutes later, it did (an absolute god-send after driving with limited visibility to get home!

Anyone have any ideas?

could be not enough screen wash and what was in the washers/bottle had frozen and then defrosted after a while

Would that still be the case even though the washer pump isn't making any noise? Would it have frozen with the wash?

it can do sometimes,or it could either be the button on stalk not working properly

I'll hope it's frozen. Will take a look when it stops snowing, thanks.
