One of my Pumas suffered a partial clutch failure about a year ago, lots of scraping noises with the clutch out and a mega low bite point.
Finally got around to the tear down and a couple of surprising things.
1. It had a 220mm friction plate in it - yay #1
2. Cover looked like a Genuine LuK clutch - yay #2
3. A spring had managed to break free - boo #1
4. Flywheel was ok but will get refaced anyway - yay#3
5. Closer examination identified clutch is from ‘Transmech’ and on investigation it is a remanufactured focus clutch - boo #2
6. Lesson... don’t buy cheap crap remade kit even if you think it’s an upgrade. This could have been a lot worse, fortunately I just have to pick out all the crushed spring bits...
