how on earth can an insurance company justify charging more to insure a standard puma than it does to insure a modified one?
just tried to move the policy over from the silver one (modded abit) over to the blue one which is completely std and they want another £170
what pillocks- then i said to them, well what if i modify it a bit then? to which she replied "how are you going to do that" :?
and then she said that they wont insure me if i modify it?!?!
what idiots.
dont want to scrap the policy though and start a new one as ill lose my hard earned 9 months ncb
plus ive only got 1 direct debit left to make then i get the last 3 months free :)

They have you over a barrel if you change details mid-policy unfortunately.

It might be the case that you are on a policy with NIG or someone specialising in modified cars only, so a standard car isn't their "thing" and hence dearer.

I am on a modified policy and the jump to a standard 197 was more than I had expected, especially given that on paper I am very low risk (old, no convictions or claims, lots of NCB).

companies sometimes load the premiums as a way of saying they don't want your custom, but if you are prepared to pay infloated prices they are prepared to accept you

apart from that, if they actually refuse you that has consequences for future insurance applications (you really don't want this to happen to you!)

its with adrian flux who afaik they sub-contract it out to other actual insurance companies. im gonna have to pay it though really as you say dal becuase they've got me really...
£320 quid then this month for insurance :(

have you tried Elephant? thats who we're insured with and a non modified costs us £46.00 per month.

Currently 21, no NCB, standard policy, TPFT, no points / no crashes and paying £1800 - Quinn

Just did my renewal on Confused as though I had 1 years NCB and it came out at £2000... brilliant, that's £200 more than what I'm paying at the moment... excellect logic! :S

are you 20 with 3 points and no ncb? :(
i can only dream of paying that much atm

No I am the named driver on my husband's insurance, although he does drive it more than I do.

He is 39 with no points and maximum NCB and i'm 29 with no points and 3 years NCB

We thought £47.00 per month was expensive!

The £170 is more than likley a a transfer free from the insuerer so no matter what car you got they'd probs want it this sort of happened to ke when I had an S reg corsa then got a much newer/safer/lower milage new corsa and the charged me £110 to transfer. That's all I can think of mate your probs gonna have to pay it but a quick call mentioning you only have 1 payment left to make and your not happy and proabily won't renew with them if they charge you this might help and I can't hurt

Why don't you send a PM to dan@adrianflux http://www.projectpuma.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=275" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and ask him to have a look into it?

I've always found that AF are not as competitive for standard cars, as they are for modified or rarer, more sporty cars.

For my 1.7, I pay £21.37 per month to Direct Line. Fully comp, protected No claims. Aged 33, licence for over 10 years, no points or convictions, 4yrs No claims.
