The window wound down but then wouldn't wind up. Removed door card etc. Window motor is running the cable OK but lots of clanking noises as the cable gets to a certain position.Window is running in the guides OK. Green support fitting at the bottom of the window looks OK but problem seems to be with the cable going through the top fitting (found a bit of this at the bottom of the door). I can't see how to access this fitting. Any ideas please?

Rivets top and bottom of the window rail, three off 10mm bolts under the handle and the electrical connector with is a press to release, once the rail is out you'll be able to see what is what off the car, needs 12v to test, polarity will decide direction that the motor runs.
Sounds like it needs a new window mech, make sure you get the later BK part number as there are two types interchangeable in operation but later one is revised and improved.
Also worth cleaning the rail as something will have caused the mech to go - usually if the glass is not fully free to travel.
