The engine came back, all nice and clean but more importantly built properly!
Not going to say much as the photos will show most of it...
Got a new crank position sensor as the one above has been shaved off from end float in the crank. The one that's in there is not the one that came out, which was much worse.
The engine builders got all new gaskets and seals, a whole set at a cost of around £450!! Here's the bag that's left..
Got the flywheel skimmed. Here it is, lightened and skimmed.
Got a look in here. You can just see the edge of machining for the modification to allow 360 thrust face for the crankshaft.
New clutch and cover
Wrapped over the thermotec heat tape with aluminium foil tape as it was coming away in places. Foil tape is much more sticky and much thinner so shouldn't peel at the edges. I did the gearshift cables, power steering rack. The inlet was done a while ago.
Starter cables, with inline fuse to protect cable from alternator current down the car. Dan put this in for me.
Had to adapt my oil separator pot as it didn't quite fit, relocated brackets and an inlet..
New drain for the oil separator pot, about 5mm from the driveshaft! But can't move so will be fine. Original one blocked off.
New crankcase breather take off. Wasn't cheap but certainly the best on the market as it has baffles going into the block.
I always make sure hoses aren't touching anything.. e.g. here it looks like the breather hose is resting on the gearbox but it's held about 10mm away by its own form
Breather outlet to atmosphere
Hose routed down the back of engine and supported off the back of the stud for the driveshaft intermediate bearing carrier
The car is now back on the ground, all fluids filled and ready to be started. I had a slight issue in that I couldnt get the fuel pump to prime. Dan bypassed the relay and the pump works so that's good. We think the ECU isn't priming the rail with fuel for some reason, but hoping it will kick into life when the engine goes to start as Dan has had this happen several times before.
Also checked that the engine cranks, very briefly mind, but hopefully this means that the 100amp fuses seem to be fine for cranking.
Big thanks to Dan for helping put it all back together this week. It came apart really quickly, about 6 hours but has taken a lot longer to put back together!
Just going to push it out of the garage and give it a wash tomorrow ready for Monday's trip
