    1.7 Variable valve noise

Hey, I am still quite a newbie when it comes to the puma engine, however I am halfway through a top end strip down and rebuild at the moment. The answer to the movement is yes, there should be movement (around about 30 or so degrees in the anticlockwise direction). As for those bad noises, i...

    Puma workshop manual?

If it is any good let me know. The pc version works but is inconvenient to be honest. I would much much rather have a book propped up on the work bench rather than a laptop with a poor battery running windows 7 and XP and a difficult to read manual :/ What I have works, but I have found much...

    Head Gasket DIY

Thank you for the detailed information, it is much much more than I was expecting! :) Your feedback has given us a bit of hope that the valves might not be damaged after all!... but my mind won't rest until I get the head off and can see it for myself. Our main problem has been acquiring the...

    Head Gasket DIY

Wow, these 1.7 zetecs are a pain. Bought a 1.7 Puma R as a project. She needed a cam belt change, so that was done, and we fitted a new belt tensioner which we were assured would work just fine and was just a newer style. Turns out we were b/s-ed and when we flicked the engine over to check she...

    oil leak!!! HELP!!!

Well I cannot be sure where the leak is coming from. It obviously has to be either a seal or gasket, so I would suggest you do the best you can to clean her up, run the engine until up to temperature, and then maybe for a couple more minutes and then see if there is excessive amounts of oil in a...

    The Puma Interior

That was my question, do they differ from the fiesta ones? Although, that is a point. Are there different styles for the puma? I just imagined that there would be a wider range made for the fiesta as it is such a popular model.

    Focus flywheel

I don't know of anybody who has tried this, if you know that the Focus flywheel is the correct size and will fit correctly, being lighter it will definitely increase acceleration. If that is what you are looking for then continue to look into it and if you can, give it a go! But don't forget to...

Puma Newbie - Need new parts

Hey there, and welcome to Project Puma, I personally live on a small island called Jersey in the Channel Islands (down near France). So as you can imagine getting any parts down for such an exclusive car is a pain. However, the best thing about the Puma is that it is so similar to the fiesta...

    The Puma Interior

Hello all, Now I have never owned a ford fiesta, but I am told that it is identical to the Puma. I am particularly interested in the dash, and how similar it is as I am looking to replace the air vent directors. They are getting old and one fell out when it was adjusted, so am thinking of...

    Cam Belt Change

Ok, an update! We haven't had many hours free to continue work recently but today we finally got the crank bolt out! It was incredibly stiff and took a 17 stone man pushing with all of his strength with a 2 foot cheater bar to crack it, whilst another was in the drivers seat stamping on the...

    headlight plastic cover marked

yeah, it is the stuff they call the 'sealer'. With the Turtle Wax kit you get a wipe with some special 'sealer' in it. Once the headlights are sanded and clear again you seal them with the wipe and it keeps them from dulling again!
