trying to fix an oil leak....

had it before the engine was rebuilt, new block, new head. old rocker cover, pulleys, vct

its on the back of the engine underneath the powersteering pump (altho i dont have it there anymore but you get the idea)

feels like its coming from the oil pump but if you remove all the covers its actually from the inlet cam / pulley / a chip missing from the rocker cover groove that locates the seal over the inlet cam pulley.....its dribbling down (soaking cambelt) and dripping from near oil pump and cam cover just below powersteering pump

discovered inlet cam carrier was loose....sorted massive oil leak but still dribbling

fixed groove on rocker cover with jb weld so should have sealed....got another one on way from ian g fingers crossed....

anything else it could be? vct leaking??!

had a new seal on inlet cam, could have been damaged?

its ruined 2 cambelts now....getting fed up! on the plus side im getting good at changing them!!!

oil even got into the inlet cam pulley bolt!! after 2 days sat like that i didnt need to try hard to undo it!!!! 8-0

Well I cannot be sure where the leak is coming from. It obviously has to be either a seal or gasket, so I would suggest you do the best you can to clean her up, run the engine until up to temperature, and then maybe for a couple more minutes and then see if there is excessive amounts of oil in a specific area.

Of course this also depends on how the oil leaks. Does it leak when the engine is stopped, or only when she is running?

Are you using a ford rocker cover gasket?? Silly question but did you remove the old inlet cam seal?? Had them stick to the.back of the pulleys before?!

cheers steavie; it was the inlet cam pulley bolt; had torqued it to 60 as per haynes but realised should have been 105 as per ford manual! could have ebeen costly!!!

got another small leak im trying to chase, only a dribble...bloody new engines!
