    Leicester meet, Saturday 14 Sept

oh FFS damn bugger and blast. For some reason (partly because I very rarely come on here and my memory is crap), I had this in my mind as being in October not September. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it as I'm in peterborough for 2 1/2 days over the weekend shooting a massive stunt bike...

    Photo editing advice

using photoshop elements 10 here and I find it a big improvement over elents 6 which I previously used and prefer it to photoshop 7 which I do have. For me Elements 10 does just about everything I need to do with my photos and was dirt cheap too (well, around £60 from amazon) :)

Top Gear 18 (Neil's new moan thread)

I quite enjoyed last night's episode, the two cars with the plane engines in was pretty cool (I'd love one of those to play with), and the track car bit was good without being too stupid and predictable. Plenty of laughs with their 'commute' challenge

    Puma's replacement

haha no problem Ally, rant away. I've always said that about these wonderful electric cars which only cost 2p to recharge overnight from a 3 pin plug etc. if everyone bought them just imagine how much electricity would go up to compensate for the lack of fuel revenue. and may I say a big...

    Puma's replacement

lol, cheers. I spent a couple of hours on it that morning giving it a good clean/clay/polish/wax etc, all just by hand though I like your thinking about the remap, although some may argue that looking at the first picture it could do with a nice set of coilovers too lol

    Puma's replacement

Had the first long run in the new motor this weekend and pretty happy with the economy so far :) first 200 miles were around 70-80 on the motorway, averaged bang on 60mpg according to the trip computer. Wasn't in a rush to get home so sat at 65-70 on the return 90 miles home and averaged 66...

    Puma Photography

Thanks, I've dabbled with HDR a bit over the last few years and I always try to go for a more subtle effect than a completely unrealistic 'arty' style

    Puma's replacement

do they go as far as banning any changes to the ECU? I know they are more strict this year with regards to some mods such as cats (shame really)

    Puma's replacement

i guess either can theoretically give better mpg too when driven steadily so no need to turn it off ;) either would most likely be declared too, although you could argue that either would be hard for an insurer to spot ;) (not that i'm suggesting trying to fool an insurer of course)

    Puma's replacement

Cheers for the info Dal :ok: , I'm in two minds which way to go atm. A couple of recommended places to a custom remap for only £50-70 more than the tuning box (approx). I'm sure either one will put an even bigger grin on my face lol

    Puma's replacement

The only problem is controlling the torque. Has to be intentionally limited apparently if you still have the original clutch as they are only rated to 300lb ft. With a cupra (PD160) intake (around £90) and a remap i've seen claims of up to 320lb/ft

    Puma's replacement

it's nippy enough. On paper it's around 9 seconds to 60, but the in-gear punch is pleasing :) around 130bhp and 230lb/ft as standard. a few tweaks can give a fair bit more though. a simple £2-300 remap should give around 160bhp and up to 300 lb/ft(ish)
