It's happened to me. The mechanic at the local garage nodded knowingly when I told him (having had to get it towed in). He turned the key, and momentarily floored the loud pedal. It started straight away. No charge. :grin:

I carry a fire extinguisher. I've passed a couple of cars pulled over on the hard shoulder, where the owner's just had to stand there and watch it burn, so I figure I can at least try to keep it repairable if the worst ever happens.

It seems it can also get down there if you slop oil over the side of the inlet. It runs down the side and under the plastic cover, so you don't see that it needs mopping up.

It was a few years ago now, but I remember reading something about the US not requiring the destructive safety testing of large numbers of a foreign vehicle if that vehicle was part of a limited edition of (IIRC) 500 or less. That would cover the FRP, wouldn't it?

I spotted this red Puma parked outside the ASDA near Jnct 2 of the M6. Three young people loaded it up with shopping and drove off as I was noting the number.

If you need some non-destructive extra grip to get your side repeaters loosened, try a flat rubber sheet jar opener. It worked a treat for me. :)
