Hi guys,

Quick question... I have a 1.7 of which the lambda sensor is dead. I have a 1.6 engine lying around, and I took the lambda sensor of that engine. It turns out the plugs are different, but the wires are exactly the same (two white ones, one grey one, and a black one). Furthermore, the sensor itself is somewhat different. The question is: are they interchangeable? (If so, I will solder the 1.7 plug to the 1.6 sensor)

I attached a picture of both plugs. The left one is the original 1.7 sensor

Why don't you check a parts site that shows you original part numbers. There is a European one with all the ford spares shown but I can't remember the site name. Then you can check part no for 1.7 and then check 1.6 and see if it's same number. If it is, you should be fine to use your spare.

I have swapped connectors on these sensors before on a different Ford vehicle and it worked fine. I doubt there's any meaningful difference between the hardware.
