In 1967 I was walking down a street in my home as a car mad schoolboy and saw my first 911. I looked at is, stunned and decided that one day I had to have one. It took me well over forty years to get there, but finally in 2010 I made it.

Over the years I decided exactly how it had to be, and when I started out on the purchase trail I was very choosy. It took me several months to find the right one. Now, after the three years I promised myself it is time to pass on the stewardship of this exceptionally lovely vehicle.

There's a lot of things it doesn't have. No turbo because I wanted proper throttle response and the gorgeous sound, aided of course by the switchable exhaust. No added wings, spoilers or bodykit. No nasty automatic gear changing, no flappy roof or removable panels, no garish upholstery, black leather is what it had to be.

But it does have the right equipment - PSM, PCM with iPod feed, Bose Sound, HID lights, heated seats, full dealer / specialist service history. And the right colour, gleaming Seal Grey Metallic

I'd love to show you a huge sheaf of bills, but I'm afraid I can't. Outside of routine servicing it's had a set of brakes, both the aircon condensors replaced and a new set of Pirellis within the last two months, and that is genuinely it. It has boringly started every single time, uses very little oil and certainly doesn't leak any.

Somewhere out there is another purist like me who wants the 'classic' 911 experience; I am ready to pass it on. I'm in no hurry to sell and hope the next owner will be as particular as I was.

And bearing in mind that two cars before this I owned a pair of Puma I can tell you that it is almost as much fun.

Lovely looking motor, wish I had the cash, do you takes kids in part-ex?

new owner will be well pleased with that, hope you find the right person.

Found the right person. The very first guy to view (it took a while) came up from Brighton and gave me cash on the spot.

A very, very sad day.

:-(
