So a quick update on this one. Thames Valley Police made contact with me on Thursday and have just been making a statement this evening with them. They are working for Oxford CID and seem to think that they may have caught the guy in question.

I'm going to make contact with Micki who said that he owned the car, but if anyone else knows the owner of 319 and is able to provide details that would be fantastic and will help the case.

Fingers crossed that this goes somewhere - will keep you all posted

Thanks for keeping us up to date - I feel for you as it was so nearly me....

Good luck with this I really hope you make some progress, your thread makes sickening reading but thanks for keeping us up to date with it.

Also interested in updates on this. Any luck reaching the chap on here that said he owned the car?

Just digging up an old thread that was close to my heart, Mark, did the Police ever catch this crook?

Bloody hell James I just saw the title of this with your name in the box and thought you were flogging yours!! :)

Not a ruddy chance. Too much blood, sweat and financial investment to sell. And seeing as it was 'born' on my daughters birthday, and was my wedding car, it's not going anywhere!!!

hello I am still the owner of the number 319 and I just see this again:

Maybe they have got the number incorrect...?

Someone should ask, I might later.

yes I have asked the seller a photograph of the intake manifold as well as the additional manual numbered

Well, that would be because the scam is underway again, isn't it? - https://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26313&p=326184#p326184

Little clues -

#1. photos of someone else's car (yours) in a ad.
#2. phone number on ad differs to that of the real dealer website.
#3. car in ad does not appear on real dealer website.

Call the police and report this, it's not exactly hard to figure what is afoot. Do not contact the 'seller'.

The pics this time aren't the ones from the scam last time, I doubt they are even 319. Probably a different FRP from a different previous sale but like you said, most likely a scam. Anyone rang the dealer from their website yet?

Doesn't sound very convincing, does it?

I mean, when the police and possibly the next scammed buyer, who maybe has just lost a few thousand, ask, 'Why didn't the real owner of FRP 319 report this advert to the police when they first noticed it?......The owner is going to reply, 'Well, they fooled us all by using a different set of photos from the last time they successfully scammed someone out of a grand by pretending to sell, er, the same car.' ??

Only the real owner, micki853, knows they own FRP 319 and that therefore this advert is wrong and it is they who need to report it. To the rest of us, it's just hearsay and we don't even know the registration number of the car/s in question.

Probably/possibly, let Mr Plod sort it out, I reckon. :)
