Advice needed please. I have read the posts on fitting an HCV and thankyou for the information! Do you need to remove the heat shield to do this? Are there any photos that would explain this as all the ones that I have found have been dead.

Its pretty easy, and dont need to remove the heat sheild. The most tricky bit is holding those spring clips.

heres my advice

- locate all four pipes & hose clips
- use good quaility pilers to compress clips, to loosen, and slide them about 75mm back along pipes
- unplug HCV
- pull off hoses, the coolant will of course leak out at this point
- check there is no plastic left in hoses
- remove old one, and fit new one
- push on hoses
- compress & move clips to correct postition
- plug in HCV
- top up coolant

I used mole grips when taking the clips off and replaced them with jubilee clips as they're much less fiddly!
