im soooooo close! i was going to fit the clutch today & after visiting pumaspeed tony put some doubt in my head - gutted, but at least i didnt spend a whole day on the car to find out it wouldnt work!

to start from the beginning; i love AP clutches- they are THE clutches to have. there solid and very useable

AP dont make a puma clutch tho, in fact iv found out today they dont do a clutch for a hydraulic bearing (BALLS!) which makes the shape different & the clutch iv found 4mm too 'tall'. the clutch i have is perfect in many, many ways except 2! mainly it needs a rounded manual bearing & not the square hydraulic one the puma has.

i cant modify the clutch, i cant buy a hydraulic friendly clutch....!

i need to find a way of putting a round bearing into a square bearings hole....!!!!

bugger!

Roller bearings rather than ball bearing you mean? If you can get any pics up of what you mean and sizes, I'll have a look at work when I get back on monday.

:eek:k:

cool! the profile of the casing is either flat or rounded, i have a car that is flat with a clutch that needs to be rounded! bummer!

puma clutch & bearing on the right; flat bearing, wavy shaped fingers on clutch
ap clutch on left; rounded bearing, flat fingers....

the rounded bearing will fit into the puma slave cylinder but need to machine a collete etc to hold it..... mmmmmmmmm!

Hmmm... I see your problem now. Tricky one.

You know you want to ;)

Tiggr has one, and smooth as a babies arse it is, light as a feather and yet with enough grip to wheel spin in 3rd :) ( as witnessed by people on one of the Zig Zag hill meets :) )

I'd let you have it, but its an S2 Escort plate, and its hopefully going to get used again.

huh! s2 plate?!!!! you running a hydraulic clutch bearing?

or have you had custom made fingers put in the clutch cover?????

Tiggr has an Escort S2 Turbo CVH in place of the Zetec ;) Bell housing was modified to take the new location to the starter motor, and still retain Puma drivetrain.
