BMW 330ci - To buy or not to buy

Have been looking around for a more motorway miles performance coupe recently and realized that a 330 might be a good option. I'm looking at the E46 with around 120k miles which can be picked up for about £2-3k

Anyone got any experience/advice?

Watch out for rear subframes cracking there was a BMW recall on them

Got one now and checked all the usual stuff and it seems to be all OK. It's a fantastic car for the money and is one great motor. It's not as much fun or anywhere near as nice to drive as the Puma as a drivers car but it's great on the motorway

What's the advantage of the 318is?

The whole car really, it's a four cyclinder it's lighter; the engine is mounted so far back in the engine bay is virtually a mid engined car; is great fun round a track; they are cheap and a comfortable cruiser

330i is a good car but if your after a motorway cruiser surely a diesel is better? cant imagine a 3l straight 6 will be the most economical car out there.

as Tom says, 318is is a good car... a bit on the slow side by modern standards though.
