where can a replacement cat be bought from? he was thinking of getting a decat pipe, but unsure which he will need? he currently has a standard manifold and cat, but has a miltek cat back ? cheers, chris

I think both Milltek and Piper (PumaSpeed and PumaBuild) can supply a flanged cat to replace the original FRP cat. Both will probably upsell a full system though!

what do you meen ' upsell a full system ' ? i had a look on pumabuild, but its not that clear if they fit onto a standard manifold or not?

Her means try and sell you a full system instead- eg- oh well if tha cats gone it might have issues in the manifold and abit of damage in the main pipes so for the cost fo checking it over yopu should get a afull new system which we have in stock and can fit for £xxxx

oh rite, well it would have tp be mail order anyway, too far to go down there. it was actually pumaspeed i looked on, thing ive sorted it now. they do a straight pipe to fit a standard m,anifold for £55 delivered, which isnt too bad. does anyone have any experience of de-catting the racing puma?

No different to decatting any other Puma with a 4-2-1, just be careful where you chop the cat from the mid section.

This cat;

http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.jsp?productID=152" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Will bolt straight onto your FRP manifold, and should then clamp onto the mid section, just as the decat would do.

yes, ive seen the cats, but he doenst want to fork out striaght away as hes only had the car a couple of weeks. mot has just been done so he is thinking of running the decat for a while to see how it goes, then getting cat later in the year, ready for mot time.

Power increase of a decat over a sport cat is nominal. Not illegal if the car will still pass an emissions test.

i dont understand whats nominal mean?

a sports cat is still a cat there will be a restriction compared with no cat at all

(Hey Flash :)

Also, decat is 'cool' thing, but u've got few things to take into account :
- u'll have really less torque under 4000 tr/min
- u'll have a bit more power over 4000 tr/min
- decat without a remap (a real, by pro, taking into account that u're decat) is not really good for the engine (don't tell me to explain in English, i don't have the words to).

I've got a full milltek system, with Sport Cat ; i had test with and with out SportCat : definitively i keep Sport Cat ; maybe with a good remap, it will be more driveable.

And we can think about nature for extra-pollution with out it.....

Another thing is noise level, it's really more loud with out Sport cat.

frp WONT pass emissions with de-cat
therefore no MoT therefore no insurance therefore ILLEGAL (i remind you that the police or your insurance will take it straight to an mot station after you have an accident as a way to get out of coughing up dosh or to imprison you FACT)
frp cat is a 'sports cat', sod all restriction. de-catting it will add no power (i have a decat pipe and a sports cat, no difference)

milltek sports cat will slide straight onto your milltek exhaust....look at your exhaust; youl see the oem cat / main pipe has been chopped and the new stainless system slipped straight over. millteck cat bolts straight to frp steel or piper or milltek stainless manifolds.

if your going to cut corners sell the car before you look at the front brakes!!!! frp's NEED money and tlc
