hi,
just fitted new inlet valves and ported the head while it was off,
put it all back together,
started first time but went to 3000 revs for around 3 seconds then slowly dropped and then it goes from about 700 to 1400 every second or so,
any ideas?

sorted,
figured it was sucking air,
turned out the pipe under inlet runners wasn't on,

This one?

I asked because I have a similar problem after rebuilding the cylinder head in my Puma. It's sucking air somewhere, and I'm trying to figure out where that is..

mine is fine now,
good luck with the search,
try squirting wd40 or easy start or something similar around the joints,
you should hear a change when you are close,

I've just got back from the car. In my case, the crankcase ventilation hose (that's the one under inlet manifold) is fitted properly... :(
I've also tried spraying WD40 around inlet manifold and ICV... All around basically. No changes in engine behaviour whatsoever.
It idle fine for about 5 sec after turning on, but then it starts to alternate between 700 and 900 rpm...
Could it be caused by leaking fuel rail seals? The ones that comes between each injector and cylinder head? Because I've refitted the old ones after taking the rail off..
Or maybe you have any other ideas where to look for the leak?
