Or this thread's not long enough....

I've got a broken front spring - so time to sort out all four corners with new springs and dampers.
The replacement front strut has a much shorter threaded portion, to the extent that you just cannot get all the bits on. It is suggested that the top weight is discarded.

Anyone else come across this ?

Hi pkp.
It`s possibly a Fiesta damper, which doesnt have the weight. try assembling without it.
If it goes together you could either raise hell with the supplier and get the correct damper
or just live with it. (I`m not actually sure whaty the weight is for!)

I took the weights off when I put my coilovers on and it didnt make any difference to the car and now this thread is a little longer :)

The weights are there to absorb some of the vibrations, they are basically a damper damper. About as useful as the box under the bonnet.

Time to cut the thread....

Parts man came up with a Ford instruction to remove it with the new strut !!

Car is all back together and seems OK !
