My first set of full LED tail lights were not very bright and didn't have a good angle of visibility. So, I've made another set using better LEDs and a different method of mounting them.
SET No.2
LEDs slightly countersunk by about 1mm in black gloss acrylic:
The LEDs can be seen 'side on' so no need to mount them at an angle so they can be seen.
Ignore the crappy green light fitting: it was from my very first attempt. I'm using it to size the discs to fit in the new fittings!
With reverse light:
Drilled the holes for the tail/brake lights:
Quick demonstration of the brake/tail light:
The finished lights:
SET No.3
Tail light:
Indicator:
Both:
Not a very clear photo, but I think you'll now see where I'm going with this set...:
The finished lights
Tail lights:
With the reverse on the middle ring:
And indicator:
Brake light on middle ring of the middle tail light:
SET No.4
CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION
After building a few sets of these rear lights, I decided to try and get away from the 'usual' light rings and go for something a little different.
Picked up a chopping board for 99p which is big enough to cut the 6 mounting discs:
Cover it with some carbon wrap:
Mount 69 LEDs:
Having the LEDs in lines opens up for more different possibilities.
