Anyone got any suggestions for a direct replacement better sounding horn than the factory fitted?

By 'better' I'm thinking a fair bit louder and deeper tone and just a simple swap out job. I don't want to go down the air horn route again as I don't do much motorway driving these days. Even when I did, I had them on a separate 'push to make' button and kept the original horn, as I found the air horns were too 'startling' to other people in built-up areas, etc. :)

There's a few suggestions in this thread below and I've seen the MK3 mondeo mentioned a couple of times

Thanks.

2004 FORD MONDEO MK3 TWIN HORN HORNS - now ordered off Fleabay. :)

 Hopefully it sounds more desirable!

I keep thinking about this on my Blade as it's nearly the most embarrassing noise I've ever heard.

Yeah, I reckon so. These, from one of the links you gave above - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bFJ-2cCn5Y&feature=youtu.be sounded OK to me and the guy there reckoned the Mondeo ones sounded better. The Mondeo ones also have the advantage, fitting-wise, of both horns being on one bracket. I'm easily pleased anyway, I just wanted something better than the beep...beep factory stuff.

Just a word on air horns for anyone thinking of using them - I used them for years, the same ones across 3 cars, and they're great but only on motorways, because of all of the other traffic noise. Just don't use them as your only horn for normal traffic. People think 'well, they'll hear me for sure with those!'...but careful what you wish for...people also hear stun grenades and the result is that they just freeze or get startled and can swerve wildly, which is not exactly ideal.

Oh, and keep the air tubes very short or you will get a lag when pressing the horns.

They do sound good though. :p

....I'll take a few pics when I fit these Mondeo horns, but don't reckon it's going to be a rocket science job. But, who knows, they might not fit where I plan them to or something?

Matt,
Had air horns on my Suzuki RG125 (25+ years ago), wish I knew where I'd put them. Think I lent them to a mate, never to be seen again :(

They sounded similar to the below vid (took me ages to find this video as most triple horn blew at same time whereas mine were sequential.....

Really made people look twice or three times just to see what the hell vehicle was making such a racket
