I seem to be putting in a new key fob battery once a month, I put a new one in and for three to four weeks I can lock and unlock the doors with ease using the fob, then I start having trouble-- I HAVE TO PRESS THE BUTTONS SEVERAL TIMES---if I put new bats in it's ok again for a few weeks.
all the cars I have had the battery lasts for two to three YEARS .
any ideas what the reason is--phil

If it is a 3 button remote? then the circuit board inside the fob has cracked or broken, it has been known to be repaired using some form of glue to fill in around the circuit board, but the safest bet is to replace the fob completely, the key part comes away from the fob, so no need to get a new key cut, the new fob will need reprogramming afterwards too.

I have this exact same problem too, but i just put it down to the batteries that i've been buying off ebay. I never knew about the cicuit board though. Not that bothered in the end, the batteries are dirt cheap so i dont mind spending a fiver every few months.

Cant argue with that

it's a three button fob--- I will get it fixed as you said.
thanks for your help
