The very early mk2 Mondys (ie R reg) had "silvertop" zetec engines as did all mk1`s.

This is the one you need, the blacktop version (1999 on) is not compatible.
The change was when Ford changed their cars to the ODBII spec.
A quick look under the bonnet of any donor car will tell you for sure. (silvertop good/blacktop bad)

Rare is an understatement as the 2.0 TB is an upgrade on the 1.8 silvertop too. (the escort boys love em!)

The inlet manifold will need to be removed before any grinding as the metal shavings will wreck the engine first time it is started.
Also, get some gasket paper (flexoil etc) then you wont get caught out by an unexpected gasket. just make your own..

This is what you want.

58mm, smoothed out, correct linkage.

Do you have to mod the throttle cable linkage so that the puma cablr will fit

Ive just bought a throttle body and a air flow meter of ebay for 5quif with free postage lol.

Cant beat bargain mods.

I asked the seller if the butterfly was 55mm and they said it was.

Hey Kidders - How much you looking for for your Throttle body? Might be interested. Especially if you have a manifold already bored out to match!
Let me know
Thanks

Do you have to modify the inlet nanifold when you take the standard throttle body off so that the 2ltr throttle body will flow more air or is the hole in the inlet mani big enough.

I got my mondy throttle body n air flow metre today. It cost the seller 5.35 to post so they have made no money on them lol.

Hi Glenn.
Im sure it is covered in this thread, but to reiterate.

You will need to remove your inlet manifold (well, half of it) to bore out the hole to match the TB.

I was gonna put some rag down the hole then bore the hole out and then use an air line to blow the debri out.

Fine if you plan to take it of the car? I would also wash it out with the jet wash and wipe it out with tack rag if you can get in.

Maybe you could start a new thread asking about manifold removal specifically? Might get a bit more visibility.

I know it's related to the TB but you never know..

Im a mechanic by trade, I do it for a living. I had a play about with the puma today. I put the mondeo throttle body on to see if it would rev and idle.

Tbh I felt as if it reved like a motorbike lol.
I took the manifold off and ive bored the hole out where the tb sits. Ive took loads of pics so when ive finished I will do my own thread. It must of took me about 10 mins if that to get the manifold off.

Depends if you're removing the front half or the whole manifold, it takes 10 minutes to remove the headlight, raise the car, remove aux belt, unbolt alternator and pull back to get to the hidden bolt, so i think you took the easy option.

I just didnt see the point in taking the full lot off. Hopefully I can swap the linkages on the throttle bodies today then I will put it back together to see if it works lol.

I fitted my mondy throttle body the other day.It seems to go better. It sounds to me as if there is more induction noise too.

I will do a thread on fitting it when I have more time. The throttle linkage wasn't a straight forward swap.I had to bore the hole out for it to fit.
