Been on the lookout for an Anglia 105e for my son for some time now and recently, through word of mouth, this one came up. It's a 1966 997cc Deluxe with just over 37,000 miles on the clock and comes with all the parts although not all of them are presently fitted. The car comes from my home town Huddersfield originally (VH reg) but we had to drive 2 hours to view it. The upper bodywork is in really good condition including the wings, doors, gutters and window surrounds etc and the engine bay is relatively rust free. The only bad bits are underneath and it's had a few patches on the floor which are sound but done to a scruffy standard. The engine sounds as sweet as a nut but the exhaust manifold to system joint is blowing slightly. The interior is reasonably tidy and it has a heater (yippee!) and is fitted with an alternator. The car is tax free but it will need an MOT. The owner is willing to deliver to me for the price of diesel in his van.
So we are having it and I've got 4 months to get it on the road

Nice

If your son should happen to want a set of Escort Mexico 5.5 x 13 steel wheels for it let me know (via here) as I have a set in my garage, two with tyres (175/60/13 ) and two without

Hi Zinc
Thanks for that, we may be interested. Are they the standard Ford type Rostyles or just standard steel wheels? Do you have any photos?
Good luck with your car whatever you decide to do

Was my second car.Bought NEW in 1961,imperial maroon.Finished up with a 1340 classic engine then sold in 1964 for the all new pre cross flow 1500 GT.Think I did about 40k miles in it .Went all over Europe never let me down  He won't leave that standard for long....

Hi Dave
I always fancied one when I had my RS2000 but never got one so my son can live my dreams. Funny thing we were talking about the standard vs modded on the way to visit it. I suppose it depends on how nice it is when I've finished it but he won't be able to legally mod it (insurance) for a few years yet. Glad to hear you've got pleasant memories of yours and they are a cute car :)

WEHEY!! Nice one mate  I bet Andrew is well chuffed.
If anyone can sort out the rusty bits, you can.
I'm sure you'll enjoy sorting it out, good luck with it.
Paul

Cheers Paul
I wondered how long it would take for you to spot this. Looks like you might be seeing this at Thoresby or somewhere else this year.
Barry

Awesome Barry! Four months eh? And how long did the Puma take?!! You'll need to build an extension to the garage...

Hi James
The Anglia's a lot simpler but the plan at the moment is to stick my Puma in Andrew's mothers garage and have the Anglia back here so I can do the work on it. It does need a respray but I'll do that in the summer when it warms up....hopefully.

PS FRP found yet?

Pictures as requested my friend, not rostyles these are genuine Escort Mexico steels (much nicer).

If you look closer you will see they actually have extra bolt holes as I had them proffesionally redrilled to suit my Golf.

All four are in good nick, bit of surface rust but straight and damage free.

Tyres on the other two are 175/70/13 not 60s as I had said before and are nearly new

Hi Zinc
Thanks for taking the trouble of taking the photos but these aren't the type of wheels that my son wanted, we were hoping they were going to be the earlier type like Lotus steels. When he can change the wheels (insurance) he will be looking at Lotus steels or minilight/superlights.
Thanks again and good luck with selling them.

Nice find Barry. Tax free motoring you got to love it! Pity it's an old Ford and not a roots as I have still loads left u could have. You will have to find a type 9 and a zetec just for the future. I can highly recommend Neil at 105speed for anything 105 related realy good guy to deal with.

Graeme

Hi Dave
Yeah I know they're fetching over £400 for a good set and I think minilights suit any classic Fords but the car's for my son.
Barry

Hi Graeme
My son's wanting a 2 ltr blacktop for it as I have a powerworks supercharger specifically for that engine going spare in my garage but I'm trying to steer him towards a 1.7 Puma as with a 4 branch He'll get nigh on 135bhp and the car will weigh less.
Neil at 105speed sounds a good contact so I'll pass that onto him but He's already talking to a few people on Anglia Forums and is a member of the Anglia owners club now. As you said tax free is wonderful, it costs me a fortune every year for my lot!
Barry

Hi Barry
If he does go for the 1.7 Puma engine option, let me know, as I have something you may be interested in.
Paul

Well if you ever want rid of that supercharger I know of an Avenger that would fit! ;-) The only thing about putting the 1700 out of the puma's is having to get a bellhousing as the sigma engines have a different bolt pattern and a manifold won't be as easy or as cheap to source. Think there is a company called rwd.motorsport that do both thou. 105speed do the zetec conversation parts. Turbosport forum is also a good site for all rwd ford stuff.

Graeme

Nice, would love a classic to play with, with any luck by april will be MOT exempt as well, IIRC its current pre 1960 that are MOT exempt, but EU say should have been rolling exemption or something, so should then only be tick a disclaimer when applying for free road tax, makes life easy, and insurance cheap

had an old milkfloat I restored, and that was just tick a box to state road worthy, and collect free tax disc, £67 full comp insurance with footman james

happy days :D

Hi Paul, I'm all ears

Hi Graeme, it's for a 2ltr and isn't yours a 1.8? The belt runs the wrong direction that's why I think there's 3 specific powerworks chargers, one for the 1.8, one for the 2ltr and one for the ST170.
The bellhousing for the type 9 is easy to source as the Sigma is fitted in Caterhams, Westfields and others but the exhaust I would have to adapt or get a custom set up or use the companies you suggest.

Hi Lord B Yeah it's great not having to tax the car but I would still MOT it if VOSA will allow it to be MOT'd as I think a second opinion safety check's a good idea.
I like the idea of a Milk Float as a run around

Barry

shame scrap prices rocketed a few years back, as mid 90's cars cost more to pick up than their scrap value, so lots of vehicles were sold for peanuts, given away, or dumped

Milk float was a mad 5 minutes on ebay, bought for £150, restored, registered, and a stressful trip from birmingham to kent to collected with a knackered pug 405D that I got for free, and a borrowed car trailer

bought a 1 owner from new, FSH dolomite for a fiver +40 auction fees
