Following the recent budget, the following will apply from the dates shown:

1 Mar 2001 > 1 Jul 2002 £115.50 £210.00

So from March next year, the twin Hego cars that were supposed to be better controlled on emissions, will be dearer than the single Hego cars.

That makes sense...not.

Mrs P's Citroen has gone up by nearly 17%

Date of Registration 12 Months Band

13 May 2002 – 1 Jan 2003 - £35.00 B

The big Kat has gone up a bit too

Date of Registration 6 Months 12 Months Band
1 Jul 2007 – 14 Jan 2008 £66.00 £120.00 C

And Mrs P will do 65+ mpg - makes you wonder if performance is king sometimes.

If nothing else, these new bandings will certainly make people think about road tax when changing cars now.

Wouldnt be so bad if the roads wre actually kept to a decent standard...bloody pot holes etc etc....BUT those prices are retarded to say the least!

Even the government admit now that road tax is not spent on the roads. Bearing in mind that its based on emissions which have nothing at all to do with road use it's clearly a money spinner.

yep, if your gonna pay road tax my opinion is to buy a car worthy of it...like a 2nd hand aston martin for weekend use!!!

during the week run around in something electric or classic, both have zero tax and will happily get me too and from work with either stupidly high mpg equivalent or zero depreciation.

Still annoys me that I have to tax my Puma for at least 6 months yet for most of that time it will sit in the garage, but at least now for whatever bizarre reason it is now in the cheaper of the two bands :?

Quite like the idea of a second hand Aston though, now where did I put that £40,000 :)
