Just an initial thread to see who would be interested in a trip to the ring next year. So please ask any question or whatever, and someone (who am i kidding, it will be Dal) will try and answer them.

So far, im interested. So thats one.

Summer was my initial thought, though from what Dal says July and august are too busy. Maybe may or june? So long as its dry it doesnt matter too much how hot it is?

There are others from here that have been, not just me! Namely Colin (Bok) and Vix (crystalpuma)

At a rough guess:

Channel Crossing - £65 ferry up to £120 Chunnel return
Petrol en route - £45 x 2
Petrol there - £50 (8 laps + running about)
Camping - £10+ a night
B&B - £20-£50 a night
Hotel - £25 - £lots a night (Although sharing at ringhaus makes it much cheaper*)
Ring Ticket - €140ish for 8 laps

June to August will be busiest, but the best bet for sun. Early starts are the best to get a clear track.

This site is excellent for info:

There are lots and lots of recommended reading for a trip as you need to know what's what if your to make the most of it. This is a good guide:

A 4 bedded room would only cost about £25 each a night based on 4 sharing. £30 each a night 2 sharing a twin. I've stayed there - it's really comfy, clean and has great food and nice beer ;)

So at a rough guess we wont get much change from £400 for the whole thing? Thats not too bad really.

eeeek! i hate spending money on anything other than clothes haha
BUT everyone knows i love using my camera so id get good pics from it! :)

Plus whatever you spent on petrol / accomodation before you got to the channel. It's a fair bit of travelling from Calais to Nurburg (about 300 miles), so better not travel too far to get to Dover on the day. I did the 140 miles from home in the morning for the 7am ferry and that wasn't too bad though.
There are plenty of places to stop en-route though to freshen up and stretch your legs.

im miles away too!! hmmmm... cant we get ferry from Hull?

Yes - Hull to Zeebrugge. Could meet up with us Calais lot en-route at Oostkamp 30 mins from Zeebrugge on the A10 ;)

I might join you Dink as its much quicker to go accross England than all the way down it!

I would just like to point out that although i do live in Runcorn, I was born and raised in neighbouring Widnes. If you ask 'whats the difference' thats like asking whats the difference between Liverpool and Everton, or United vs City. For more information on Widnes contact your local library.

Widnes! Widnes!

Remember that if you go on the ring, there isn't a rule to say you have to thrash your car round. Nothing wrong with taking it steady, keeping to the right and enjoying the experience. After a few laps you may get the confidence to push it a bit more though :eek:k:
