Paint finish inside door frames

I've slowly been cleaning up my Puma and 'claying' most of it and have noticed a couple of odd things with the paint finish inside the door closure areas from below the door catch to the bottom of the curve/sill - the finish on both sides isn't gloss/polished feeling like the rest of the car and almost feels like overspray.

Is this normal or does it look like someone has had something done in the past? Also seems to be the same in a few places on the tailgate area around the hinges?...
