Hi Guys,

I've just bought my first Puma Thunder, and after a two hour drive home it is now making a strange noise which is hard to describe (rattling/whirring/rotating sound)! It seems to be when it's under load and from what I can work out possibly belt or tensioner related? It's well over due a cambelt change so I'm looking for a specialist near to me who can help diagnose the noise and replace the cambelt etc?

Thanks

Hi, have you sorted the issue?

Well I thought it may have been the cam belt as it was overdue, and when idling I could hear a sound under the black plastic cover, it sounded as if the belt was rubbing against something. I got the belt, tensioners and waterpump replaced as it turned out there was play in the pump. There's certainly less noise now but there's still something that doesn't quite sound right, almost sounds like a bearing once I get above 70. I was thinking it could be the the alternator as it's had trouble starting on a couple of occasions even though the battery was changed shortly before I bought it?
