I have a stopgap lined up but was just wondering if people had used a welder with a particlar specialisation of Pumas please?
I am looking for someone who is likely to be able to cut rusty bits out and weld a new piece in rather than just replacing a wing, for example because it had rusted at the bottom.
I am happy to travel so looking I guess, greater London, Stevenage, Luton, Birmingham, around Bedford etc.
Cheers in advance!

I can thoroughly recommend Oliver Panelcraft near Witney Oxfordshire. Pete is capable of making new repair panels etc.The quality of his work is excellent They no longer do paint work though.

Well its an option for you, I can vouch for the quality of the work they do.
Looking forward to meeting you this evening. I intend being there before 5, as I want to see if we can arrange something for the Old Ford Rally.

Hi Cubatoo.
I got your PM regarding the welding on my Puma. The company I used are in Colchester Essex. They have given up doing this sort of work as the number of hours makes it a job to justify the cost to the customer. On my Puma they spent 24 hours. They reduced the hourly rate by £10 pounds for me. They said that they made an exception in my case. They say they are just going to concentrate on insurance work. Hope you get it sorted.
Regards,
Richard.

Thanks John. Hopefully be there 5.30 as coming straight up from Stevenage after work.
I will find out what the Old Ford Rally is about when I see you!

J R Classics Doncaster are the firm I would recommend to do welding and the fabrication of metal shapes to replace rusted out parts. They are that good, it could take a number of months before they are able to work on your vehicle. Look on their website and it will show you how good they really are.

If you’re going to be keeping your car long term then how about getting on a welders course and buy your own kit?
Best thing ever!!!

I would go for that having just spent £1800 on welding on my Puma. I wish I had a garage so I could do lots of thing that I have to have done by others.
Regards,
Richard.
It's a good idea and I did consider it but you would have to be good at curvy panel making too. Pumy's lower front wings are coming through from the inside. I guess I could start with rear wheel arch inserts!
Have a house that needs painting and decorating so saving money there as can do that myself but then no time for poor Pumy!
Something else to do when I retire!
