Hi everyone have just repaired my rear rusty(bubbled up) wheel arches & was surfing for some wheel arch decals & found Project Puma by accident. I own a 2000 Silver 1.7 model-I bought it after first owner had it for 3 years & 30,000 miles...........I have now had it for ten years(SORNED last 2) & only had to replace all 4 shock absorbers as 2 were leaking-& that's it. Now at 68,000 miles.Well I am medically retired-hence low milage.
I have seen this rust problem on other Pumas but not ALL. Did not want to spend £200 on a 13 year old car so drilled out the rust myself, then filled with P40 & topped with easy sand. Being lazy & tight I thought the easiest & cheapest way to go would be wheel arch decals-but there appears to be no such thing.Anyone any ideas?i may hand paint something myself?
One last concern while I am here I seem to have developed a mysterious noise from the rear right-I do not think its the wheel bearing?Thought it was parcel shelf on the window?Cross between squeaking or knocking-maybe related to wheel arch repair?Anyone had anything similar? It was not there before I SORNED IT.Coil spring?
All suggestions greatfully received as these 2 things let the car down now.Thank you.

Hello and welcome. I know this sounds really stupid, but you'll kick yourself if you don't check it and it turns out to be the source of your squeaking/knocking problem. Check that your rear seat is properly clicked into place in its brackets. It bugged the hell out of me for days trying locate the source of the sound, and I was mighty relieved when it turned out to be the left-hand spring catch clunking and squeaking. Yes, I feel stupid for admitting it. No, I don't mind one bit. Good luck.

Many thanks Nihitina for prompt reply & suggestion.I was hopeful but sadly it is not the rear seat attachment. Now I have time to think I remember putting Escort exhaust mounts on just to get it through its MOT-It was all I could get ASAP.I have a Stainless Steel custom made Exhaust system by:http://www.longlife.co.uk/..........Highly recommended at £300ish?I think they are smaller than the non Puma ones fitted by Longlife & as the Exhaust is one the right side & 3 rubbers hold it up at the rear & the noise was not there with old ones-I guess it must be this.Backing this up is the fact that different revs affect the knocking. My wife is using the car all the time so I have yet to verify if this is the true cause.Logic dictates it must?

Hi Umboman,

There is a website called Design Stuff Online with an email link. Contact John there and he will design decals to fit perfectly around your wheel arches. Tell him what colour the car is and what colour decals you would like. He will then do your designs and send you pictures by email of what it will look like exactly on the car. He is also very reasonably priced.

Many thanks K2mky!I did find out why wheel arch decals are not available-All wheel arches are different-Should of thought of that.Anyway I will check them out.Ta.
