Can anyone please help, i have just got rid of an "56" vaux meriva vxr due to credit crunch but i have been offered a "Y" reg puma in red done 68k for £1000 apart from a little wheel arch rust and minor scratchs there seems to be a squeeking noise coming from the rear of the engine????? can anyone help me with this sounds a little like a bearing noise. Thanks in advance

Hi David,

Is it more to the left of the engine? Most likely to be the aux belt. If not then possibly the water pump. Has it had a cambelt change recently (?) as the aux belt tends to get changed at the same time as well as the water pump.

Does the noise coincide with the engine revs?

£1000 for a Y reg on 68K sounds like a bargain as long as the history is ok.

Have a look here:

thanks for the reply it is coming from the rear of the engine to the left it is being driven by a belt??? looks to be some kind of pump poss the water pump then????

The water pump is a bugger to get off if you're not changing the cambelt at the same time. Have a look at this:

Can be seen here with orange sealant round it and the cambelt infront:

I dare say a good garage can do it, but not an easy DIY job.

could also be the powersteering pump or the aux belt tensioner.....all in the same area

Cheers Dal, Guess it's my air con compressor/wheel that's squeeking & wonky. :eek:k:

Wonder if that's why my air con doesn't work as the compressor is buggered or it just need re-gassing or both. I don't need the air con but not happy with the wobbly wheel.
