Windscreen washer faulty / backwards

Hi. Just bought a 2001 puma and don't know its history so have no idea if this is a common fault or not. When you press end of washer stalk for front washers nothing happens, when you pull it for rear washer the front one comes on. Is this a common problem, a botch job or something easy to rectify?

Pump has two outputs, the choice of which depends on polarity of the supply.

Easiest way to see what is going on is to have the arch carpet off driver's side and take a look - pump and pipes are visible inside the wing.

Fixings are T30 and a pozi on the mudflap.

Body work has been replaced perhaps and then pipes reconnected the wrong way round?
