In need of some help..

My electric mirrors are very temperamental... some times they work and others they dont. then maybe one will work and the other wont and then maybe one will only go in one direction and thats it.

Any ideas?

And anyone know of the correct way to take them off? Just thinking it might be a connection problem as I can see a loose screw on the left side... maybe the guy before me has had them off before and not put them back on properly? wouldn't suprise me as there are a few other little niggles that are annoying me that have been changed by someone in the past...

Thanks in advance

I've done it on my Escort, but not my Puma - I'd imagine it's a similar job. On the Escort, you take the door cards off to get at the screws holding the inside mirror covers on. Once they're off, you can get to the connectors/unbolt the mirror assembly.

Take the little panel off on the drivers side where the joystick is and make sure the connectors are ok.

Yeah as Dal said the connectors on the joystick would be a good place to start, just be careful taking it out if you decide not to take the door panel off.

My passenger side wing mirror wasn't working at all when I got my car, took it off and found out it wasn't plugged in :p
