For those who want to know, it's a 2002 Audi TT Quattro. The 225ps 1.8 turbo version.
43k with a full service history, absolutely spotless (barring a small amount of fuzzy green moss in hard to reach corners) and such a complete steal I almost felt bad for haggling the price down a little! Almost. It needs a cambelt change fairly soon, but that'll come with the MOT, service etc in February.

It's going to be a little less economical than the ST (which will be officially up for sale very soon), but hell of a lot more comfortable, and needless to say quicker. In comparison to the ST it flies! :-D

Off for a test drive:

Had to leave Dal behind as there's not enough room in the back although it's meant to be a 2+2. In the owner's manual it recommends that passengers in the rear are a maximum of 1.5m tall!

Not many photos at the moment, as I only viewed and bought it today, but they'll come when we've given a clean to get rid of the mossy bits, and given her/him a couple of good coats of wax for the winter.

Great buy, not that I'm biased!

Certainly the back seats are smaller than the back of a puma :)

Have fun with it :)

Neil, the last time you visited, and took me out in the MX5, I did mention in passing that I'd been looking at the TT as well as an MX5. I think your reponse was pretty negative at the time though!

I must admit, I was expecting a Z3 or the like, but the Mk1 TT is still a great piece of design. The interior especially is still superb today :eek:k:

^^ that's what I thought ^^

Got to say i've never understood why people bought those (i call them titties) but it does look remarkably clean for it's age. And low mileage too. From a purely trade point of view t'was a good buy.

But no, not Frank, that's a man's name.

Focus ST power, 4 wheel drive, and no bigger than a Fiesta? For the price they are at the moment (and I paid significantly less than equivalents are advertised for), it's a no-brainer!

I looked at MX5s too, but I knew that I'd never have the roof down, so very little point in having a convertible.

Now I've finally driven it I can say that it's a great little car. Picks up nicely - grips really well as you'd expect (the Michelin sports help rather than some we looked at with ning-nong-ling-long ditchfinders.)

It truly is in "as new" condition inside and out. That's normally my trick to find those cars!

I'll be stealing it at every opportunity :-D

As above, Cheries car is a brilliant buy, 4 wheel drive, and they have so much power, Its a drivers car just like the puma was :)

Are you going to come to Ace Cafe on sunday??

I spotted that. Unfortunately, we're busy on Sunday so can't make it.

Yesterday I took the TT to a specialist for a little TLC. I knew when I bought her that she was due a new cambelt and a service. I also figured that there would most likely be a couple of issues on the MOT, as the front brakes and rear tyres were advisories on the last MOT (900 miles/10 months previously).

Took it in for when they opened, and the first thing was the MOT. That threw up the previously documented issues, plus a couple of others that I'd pretty much expected. However, to get everything done, I needed to leave her with them, so Dal swung by to pick me up after the M3's oil change.

So all in she had:
Major service, plus spark plugs.
Cambelt
Brake fluid change
Haldex oil and filter change (4wd unit)
MOT
Front anti roll bar and bushes
Front wishbone bushes
Front brake discs and pads
Rear dampers
2 new rear tyres will be fitted next weekend.

Not a cheap day by any means, but everything there is consumables, or maintenance, just unfortunate that it's all fallen at once!
