Disable Torque Limiter for 1st Gear Power

Haha ok thanks guys you may have saved my puma from my harmful tinkering :) Won't play with the torque limiter.

Disable Torque Limiter for 1st Gear Power

Yep I acknowledge the risk, but I think Ford will probably have set the limit very conservatively so as to make breaking the transmission almost impossible. A lot of the standard remaps you can get will either raise or remove this torque limiter, but unfortunately my bluefin does not - so if...

    Clutch problem

The problem appears to have gone away now - no matter how hard I 'test' it! But every few days I feel a few slips. After reading a few similar posts I'm not sure it is a broken clutch (as it is intermittent) - it may instead be oil contamination on the clutch plate. I think it may be engine...

Disable Torque Limiter for 1st Gear Power

One of the main annoyances for me about the puma is that first gear doesn't give you as much acceleration as second - you don't feel pushed back in your seat as much. And when you press the pedal in first, you get an initial burst of good acceleration, then it seems to drop a bit until you put...

    Installing a clutch

How did it go? I need to get this done on my Puma and would love to try it myself :-) I heard it is very challenging to remove some of the bolts, did you find this? Also, do you have to lift the gearbox yourself or did you get a jack or something for it?

    Clutch problem

After some searching on this forum I found the following: http://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10852&start=25&hilit=clutch+slipping - this sounds like my issue and is a clutch change :( Guess I will drive carefully till I can afford the £400 change!

    Clutch problem

A problem has developed in my puma that I think may be related to the clutch. When I floor the accelerator, the engine will rapidly increase in revs (almost like it is in neutral, but there is still some resistance), but the power will not be transmitted to the wheels. I notice the problem...

MOT Fail - Front Lower Suspension Arm

Hmm then I might be getting confused as to whats getting replaced - I dont think it is the wishbone if the cheapest is £100. They will just get a standard part off auto-factors or something. Is the wishbone another word for 'front lower suspension arm'? I have long been confused as to just...

MOT Fail - Front Lower Suspension Arm

Ok thanks - fingers crossed the new arm is all it needs then! I found on another post that you could do the ball joints on their own, but aren't they 'permanently' attached to the arm by rivets or something? (which can be drilled) The cost of an entire new arm is only about 30 quid, the main...

MOT Fail - Front Lower Suspension Arm

My glorious Puma has just failed its MOT due to: Offside front lower suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint [2.4.G.3] **DANGEROUS** Two questions: 1) Cheapest quote for replacing the lower arm was £95. Is this ok? Sounds about right as part is £30ish and hourly rate is £45. 2) Will...

    jerky performance at lower speeds

I had a similar problem a while ago. The symptom was jerky behaviour when coming off the accelerator at speeds less than 30, whilst the clutch was also up (I.e. My foot wasn't pressing it) Turned out to be the little sensor switch located above the clutch had come loose. Try looking close up...

    Bluefin

I've had it for a few months now. I seriously doubt it gives 12bhp but not tested it yet. First and second gear seem like they give quite a bit more torque, and I'm pretty sure there's more low-down power though. I've been meaning to do some before-after testing on it. I recorded an 8.8s 0-60...

Best fiver I've ever spent on the puma...

I bought a can of Wynn's carb cleaner for use on the puma's MAF sensor wires, as I'd read in a few places that it can improve things if the MAF is dirty. When I took the MAF out and had a look, one of the two wires was pretty brown, but the other was fine. After three or four bursts of the carb...

    Braided hoses

What length braided hoses will I need for the front brakes?

    Low MPG...what could be wrong?

Hmm ok sounds like a good test to try, I can do a lap or two of the M60 at 60mph and see what I get. When I calculated my mpg at 30, I would have been doing mostly commuting - i.e. stop/start at slow speeds, mixed in with some motorway driving. So thats not ideal for mpg I guess. I think the...
