Lots of water trapped in sill !

When I pulled away this morning I could hear water gushing from the passenger side when I braked. When I looked out the rear window I could see a trail of water all the way out of the estate. It was coming out of the passenger side sill right next to the tyre (behind the carpet) Are there...

SORN'd Puma, what to do when starting it up?

Hello all, hope someone can help! My Puma has been off the road since October 2014 and only started a couple of times last year. I am moving house in a few weeks so I'll need to move it. It was serviced just before I took it off the road and it has plenty petrol in the tank. Is there anything in...

    Exhaust mounting Rubber help

My Milltek exhaust hangs a bit low so I bought a polyurethane mounting rubber from pumabuild.com. The problem is the holes are much smaller and I can't get it to fit on the exhaust mount bit. I don't want to grind the end of the exhaust bit so do you think the new mount will be ok if I drill a...

Hi, I bought a pipercross induction kit from ebay and it came with no instructions. Firstly, have I installed this small hose in the correct place, it was a bit of a struggle to get it on? Secondly, do I remove the bottom section of the airbox? Lastly, what do I connect the Pipercross filter...

    Handbrake stuck on!

I lowered the car last night after being on axel stands for three months, started the engine first time, went to reverse, and the handbrake is stuck on. I realised that I had left the handbrake on all along, so I'm guessing it's seized. If tapping the drums with a hammer doesn't sort it, what...

    Bleeding brakes help

I cut through a brake line with my grinder and now need to bleed the passenger side rear drum. Can I bleed just the one drum or do I need to do all brakes? Also, I managed to get the bleed nipple out but destroyed it in the process as it was so rusty. Does anyone know what size nipple I need...

Clip on fuel tank - supposed to be empty?

I've had my fuel tank and after I put it back in yesterday I noticed that the plastic clip in the pic below has space for two cables, but I've only got one cable. Is there supposed to be something else which goes on the other side of the clip? It was a while a go when I removed the tank so I...

Cut through a wire - oops!

During my underbody restoration I cut through a wire with my grinder. There is a plug that goes into the fuel tank and there are four different coloured wires attached to the plug. I've gone through one of them wires. Would it just be a case of stripping the rubber from around that particular...

Rob's Steel Blue Puma - First Car Project - Total Novice

I got my 1.7 Puma back in September and posted in the newbie area to say hello. I always planned to make a project out of it as it but never really made a start with the awful weather. I've got no mechanical experience so everything is a learning curve. I don't have loads of time to work on it...

New rear springs longer than originals

I got some FK lowering springs which are supposed to lower the rear by 40mm, however, when I put the new rear springs next to the originals, they were longer. Would anyone expect this because the originals have been compressed over the years and they haven't sprung back to their original length...

    Custom plastic arch liners?

I was wondering if anyone has ever had any custom plastic arch liners created, or if it's even possible? Does anyone think they would be a good idea considering how much moisture the standard carpet ones hold?

Rust - Is this worth repairing??

I got my puma last september and have spent around £1000 on it since. I just started working on the rust today, and after closer inspection I'm wondering whether it's even worth working on. I started chiselling away some of the rust under the arch and as can see in the image the metal has just...

    Help remove front struts

I am in the process of changing springs. I've removed all necessary bolts but I can't get the strut out of the hub carrier. It seems to be rusted in so I've sprayed some penetrating oil and left it for a while but it hasn't helped. Has anyone got any suggestions?

    Help Remove rear Brake Drums

Hi, now that we have decent (ish) weather I've started to do some work on my car. I'm a total newbie so I'm still learning. Anyway, I want to take the rear beam off to refurb it. I am stuck at the point of removing the brake drums. I've removed the four bolts from each drum but they still won't...

Replace power steering hose - good price?

I lost power steering on friday so the AA took me to a garage close by. They have quoted £272 for replacing the main pipe? Does this sound like a reasonable quote? Doesn't seem too bad to me considering the pipe costs just over £100. They are also charging for one way nuts and the fluid.
