Couple of interesting Pistonheads scrappage articles:

Apparently there was a BMW M5 scrapped as well :!: Insane

Now if all Vauxhalls had gone to the crusher we could have celebrated

No idea of condition though, as on the Volvo Forums there were a couple of decent R's that were going for scrappage, but underwent went to a strip and swap meet first, so what went to scrap was something with a tatty odd interior, 1/2 dash missing, odd wheels that were nearly bald (one set swapped, then the swapped set got swapped for steel spares, doors, wings odd....

as long as car was driveable, it still got the 2k.

There were some decent classics that were scrapped, but to a dealer with auction costs etc, car would need a g'teed first time hammer price of over 3k, before considering anything other than scrappage

As someone who used to regularly visit auctions (although very rarely bought anything, beyond Chips and cup of tea), was that the supply of cheap trade in bargains all but dissapeared.

in 1997/8 My Dolly 1850HL was a one owner dealer trade in, owner had died so guess relatives traded in against something more modern, I bid a fiver, and won :D had to pay 40 quid auction fee, it used to cost £50+ to get someone to collect a scrap car, as the new recycling rules had come in, and scrap metal prices weren't that good.

Funny looking at the online list and seeing how badly some cars were registered, even from the preview:

One is down as an 'Audi WAUZZZ8DZTA056582'. Ermm... that's surely registered in the name of the VIN!

There's also an 'Audi 0.086111111'. I guess that was a beta version. lol
