clock spring differences?

Does anyone know if the clock spring mechanism I believe its called is different on early and later cars in the same way pretensioners can be different?

For example does anyone know for a fact if an early clock spring mechanism fitted to a later car
will produce a fault that illuminates the airbag light?

Called in a Ford yesterday and asked about availability and price.

There are two different Clock springs one for pre September 1999 and the other is for sept 1999 to 2002.

And the price ??. £95.69 inc vat

Sorry I didn't get the part numbers, I was to shocked at the cost.

Yes, they also have a slight variation on the plug as when I replaced my steering wheel the new clock spring wouldn't fit.
