Hi, i'm thinking about doing a bit of diy bodywork on my new 1.4 puma, the idea is to get another set of front wings (if anyone has an old set that have some damage on let me know) and cutting and fettling them to create wide wings in a similar style to the escort cosworth.
If I cannot get a spare set of wings then I will most likely start with the rear arches (got rust on one side already) and give it multiple coats of wax, followed by a coat of pva to allow release followed by 3 or 4 coats of coarse mat fiberglass, this will be left to cure then popped off (forming a negative of the wing)
the process is then reversed using the new hold to create two sets of the rear arches to work with, one to build off the other to use for parts. depending on how the build out process goes, I may need to use two part expanding foam, as this can be carved in to shape.
The other option that I am considering is to try and graft on newer style fiesta arches (splashed from a real car if possible.
lots of work but with some support and motivation it could be really nice.
thoughts and ideas?
regards shane
