I did it last night, spent a good couple of hours trying to coax all the springs and hinges back into place, and not sure the self-cancel fault is fixable that way anyway.

Easier to buy a new/2nd hand assembly - unfortunately new is expensive and 2nd-hand isn't guaranteed to fix the fault.
 
well i got a new one for about 70euro :) also spit mine in two cause the new one did had a short on the horn and burnt the PCB :) had to hardwire the burnt gap :))
