ive decided im going to change the interior lighting from green to blue. After changing from silver trim to black trim i feel it will look better along with the blue dvd player i have.

Ive figured how to change the heating control leds and window and fog light buttons too.

I need to know how easy it is to get the speedo out and change that before i go any further with it, but regardless need the speedo out as im changing the dials from white to black. So any help and advise on removing it is appreciated

Also am i right in assuming that there is a ford clock that illuminates blue, is it from a transit ???

Any help appreciated

speedo uses 2 bulbs & a coloured filter....

clock uses tiny led's

is it the digital lighting your after or just the lights from the top?

The bulbs on the top, as jacko says are two tiny bulbs with a green color strip...

if you take the dash surround out..3 screws and clips along the bottom..
the dial instrument is also screwed in.. i cnt remember off hand how many there are..

the front plastic clips off..
along the top you will see a green strip and below this the two bulbs..which twist out

there is a strip across the top which will have to be either forced or cut off and this is where the green strip is located...

If you ever go on 'the other place', a quick PM to edoodarino might be useful.

Cheers zara helps a lot. I think for now I'm going to get some other controls n speedo etc to have a go at to save ending up in a mess lol in the meen tfime I'm going to just change the dials. I seen some black ones in a fiesta at scrap yard on friday so will figure out how to fit them at the same time as taking them out. I'm trying to use as many for parts as I can for my car. Not to kean on the other site bit of a marmite place I think

no problem... if you need it I have a guide to removing the dial instrument etc with images, but its on the other place...

good luck :D
Colin had those black dials in his milly too :)

I'm stealing his ideas lol shows what good a job he done doesn't it. I think personally it looks better all black but that my oppinion. With it all lit up blue will look evenbetter. Although if I remember rightly he had it all lit up red....red? No ill stick to blue :)

thats alreet then...

Iv been in his Milly a few times and the black does look great esp with the recaros and black leather trim etc...
Im not a rfan of red but it did look the dangleys in there... :D

look 4ward to the progress mate! :eek:k:

The plan at the moment is this weekend service, lower the back change dials to black and two tyres for the front. I'm going to try pursued my mate who is an auto electrician for his imput on this. But if he won't help think I might jus buy a green stereo lol. So hopefully in the next month or so should be on its way or done as I only have weekends to do things if I'm not working

Ive got blue lights with standard white dials, got some pics in the gallery somewhere....

The speedo i did myself, the rest i got someone off ebay to convert for me.

I'm going to attempt it my self lol so far I've managed to convert the heater control panel on my old silver one. So I know how to change that now. I'm going to practice on old ones first then transfer that knowledge into my car if you get me. But also if mine works if other people want it done ill be able to help. I'm going to try the window switches this weekend possibly speedo. So then all that remains is the clock.

Was the speedo difficult dradus??

I spent about 2hours in the scrap yard yesterday looking for a fiesta with a rev counter as most mk 4 onwards will have the dials that will fit my puma. I must of looked through about 20 of them and not one had one. Did they not do them on the mk4 or if they do what ones and are they black dials? Or should I be looking for mk5 fiestas?

Mk5 is the 2002 onwards one so its not that. You want a fiesta mk4, a zetec s would be perfect but i reckon a 1.6 upwards will have a rev counter. Dont forget there are two different types of speedo fitted, with an analogue and digital odometer.

Oh you want a black one yeah dont you? I reckon, if you want digi dials, you need a fiesta mk4 facelift, so your talking W reg onwards. A high spec one like a ghia should do it. I also think some of the last escorts may have had the same dials.

I would imagine Ben wants an analogue dash as his Puma is an R reg. A whole world of pain trying to fit a digital one with that loom / ECU.

Ah....forgot about escorts. I had a go at changing the dails yesterday. I went wrong and I got a bit annoyed and let's just say I've had to buy a new set. I know how to get the whole thing out easily and also figured out how to change the lighting too so it wasn't to pointless an exercise

Ah, didnt realise yours was an R. In that case you want an early mk4, pre facelift, p reg to about t reg i think. Again go for a 1.6 ghia, ghia x etc.
