Intermittent poor starting.

Hi people is there anything common for pumas to sometimes not start.

For eg I can start my car from cold and it will be fine then say for eg I go to the shops I can come back to the car and it will just crank and crank for ages then it will eventually start.

Any ideas. I was thinking it could be a old fuel filter????

Yep know the fault,human input,wait till fuel pump primes and for dash lights to go out and then start.......

If you're trying to start from a short distance (or even a long one sometimes) then the Puma can have a bit of a hiccup with hot starting.

Put your foot flat down on the accelerator and crank again. Usually does the trick. It's in the manual somewhere apparently..

I always wait for the fuel pump to prime. I also tried giving it some throttle too. It still doesnt like it. I might put the ford ids diagnostic tester on it from work.
