I just wanted to know I've painted the front grills on the puma blue would I have to tell the insurance company because its a modification?

I dont think they care too much about what colour your grill is.. its mainly stuff thats gonna cost them if you break it.. like performance mods.. or body paint/extra parts... its still the same grill at the end of the day :)

It may be a minor cosmetic change but it does need to be declared. It should not effect the premium you pay, if it does, shop around and find a modification friendly insurer.

This is going to sound very rude, and my apologies if it does, but if you do not know the answer then you probably shouldn't offer the advice on a public forum.

It's the risk one takes asking specialist questions on a public forum. Really the OP should have phoned his insurance company to find out.

So if i changed the colour of wheel nuts on my car... i would need to tell them...... what about if I painted the dials inside my car....?? Swapped my floor mats? Changed my wiper blades..... oh shit.... do i need to tell them that i now use blue coolant rather than the original pink??

I reckon if i told this to my insurer, they'd hang up on me thinking i'm taking the piss.

And since you are correct, a public 'FORUM', a place where people can chat... opinions and so forth... It is not a dictorial database with right and wrong answers all the time.

With the above comments, I'm pretty sure that Sparx actually spoke the thoughts of many if not the majority of this public forum.

don't forget any project puma stickers, don't recall them being stock.

I am detecting some light sarcasm.

I can only give you the strictly speaking answer, the answer I have offered is correct. Where do you draw the line.. painting the grill, do not disclose.. fit a body kit , non disclose that as well? Fit a turbo to your puma.. non disclose? Do you see my point here?

Disclose every change to the vehicle from when it left the factory and you cannot go wrong.

The spec list on my own weekend toy car is 3 pages of A4, it's not a difficult job disclosing all of the changes.

I will always pick up on and correct poor advice being offered on public forums, it may well save someone from having a void policy when they have a claim.

Thanks for your comments.

Check this one out, my dad rang his insurers after putting a private plate on his car and got a £20 refund, apparently a car is less likely to be nicked with a p plate on as they are more conspicuous.

Worth noting when doing an FRP renewal if you have an FRP plate on it !!
