So you put two people in and it's about the same weight as Land Rover 90 defender, can't you tell the yanks have a big hand in the design.

It's a shame the car has to weigh so much but the designers are faced with putting so much into new cars because people want it. My Puma is the first car I've had with ABS and A/C and TBH I don't really want it but it was standard for the car so will have to stay. Maybe the way forward for Ford is to sell a standard and a custom as they did the RS2000 IN 1978 then if you want a stripped out racer you buy the standard and if you want all the comfy bits you buy a custom. It's such a shame the car has to be a five door though but I think it looks good for what it is and price wise is a bargain.
If I could afford it I might have bought one (after a 3 door Cossie or Escort Cosworth)
