My engines got a leak from somewhere at the top of the engine, not sure if that is what they call the head. and I am thinking the seal between the top needs replacing.

it is as simple as unbolting the plastic cover, and then pulling out the HT leads and then un-screwing the engine top and replacing the seal?? is the seal call the "head gasket"??

thanks all for any advice in advance ;)

Yes. making sure you disconnect all the appropriate plugs first.

I would have thought the head gasket is the gasket between the head and the engine block.

The rubber gasket between the top of the head and the engine head cover (the magnesium one, not the plastic one) is a common cause for leaking oil. Mine had it from the back of it. It is only held on with 4 stupid big washers and nuts and IMO doesn't give an even pressure to stop the odd oil leak.

Mine has some high temperature sealant as well as the gasket and hasn't leaked since.

yep; rocker cover seal

new one isnt expensive or hard to swap but try giving the nuts a small tweek first.....(!!!ooer!)

be careful with the nuts tho as the studs are made from cheese....and they also hold the cam in so you dont want to be replacing them.....!
