Hi folks. Haven't even got my puma yet and am already dreaming up what I can do. Will start with the usual exhaust and air intake mods. But what I want to know is. What sort of gain do I get from porting the head on these engines? Got all the tools I need to port the head and done it many a time on previous fords.

Hi,

I think porting on any engine always gives you some power gains but whether or not you gain as much from a VVT engine I am not so sure.

Many years ago I did a Morris Minor (1098cc) and the difference made just by doing away with all the rough/straight edges on the valves and inlet/exhaust ports was amazing, smoother, quicker, much more driveable etc. Once I added a bigger SU carbs and some different jets it was a real flyer and would eat Mk1 Escorts for breakfast

Be interesting to hear how you get on with this idea.
