Since I promised to not clean the corsa until next year, I turned my attention to the Puma. I had been out for my work party so had a hangover! After a rainy jaunt through Christmas Common, and a hoon around a muddy car park :thumb:, it looked like this...
Has been worse, but I was bored, so it got cleaned!
I rinsed her off
but it really did not do too much...
So I foamed her up.
I made a start on the wheels. 50/50 with just the pressure washer
With the wheels and arches cleaned, I rinsed off the bodywork. Looking through my picasa, the last detail on this would have been June, with just top-up washes with BTBM in-between. It was safe to say there was no protection on there now!
apart from a random patch on the bonnet.
So, I prepped the buckets with some Maxi Suds II and got washing. I rinsed the mitt after every half panel, and had to change the rinse water halfway thorough.
I then jumped ahead picture wise as the light was fading!
The car was dried with a drying towel and an air bed inflator turned round!
I went around with SRP, and started to buff it off.
I then divided the car in half for a little wax test
The chosen waxes
The glass was cleaned with AG Glass Polish, and the side windows waxed with nattys. The rear and front screens had a layer of V7, as I find it doesn't streak the wipers. The lights and trim got a coat of Nattys too. Tyres were left untreated as it was getting fecking cold!
Test 1 - Hazing and Application
The Nattys Blue went on really nicely. It has an oily consistency to it, and takes a few minutes to start to haze, so I can overlap the application a bit.
The Wicked Wax felt drier, although still spread very well. When I loaded up the applicator, it started to apply thickly, and thin out during the panel. Unfotunatly it started to haze straight away, so I could not go back over the thicker area and spread it out a bit. It had the consistency of the Mer Hybrid Wax we all had samples of earlier in the year, although sits in the pot in a thick cake.

I then did a temperature check, and proceeded to buff them off
and 2 teaser shots of the zafira!
Test 2 - Buffing off
No pictures of this part. The Nattys buffed off with ease, and a econd dry buff resulted in a lovely finish. The wicked wax came off very well as well, certainly better than on my desk! However where it was applied too thickly, it was still oily, so tool 2 buffs and a dry buff to get a good finish. The paint felt smoother on the Nattys side (no claying, just 1 layer of SRP) than on the Wicked Wax side. The Wicked Wax side was darker than the Nattys, so it might add something to the finish. Flake pop was evident on both sides
Test 3 - Beading and Sheeting
I buffed the car off, catching the Dew point sadly, so no major afters, but I decided to get the water back out!

the Nattys wins hands down on the sheeting and beading! There is some protection there from the Wicked Wax, but TBH it's not much better than the SRP on its own would be. Next time I will lay 2 layers down, but I stuck to 1 layer of each.

A few afters of the rest of the car
No chance of a good pic of the roof atm
More beading :argie:
Nattys (I DO love this!!)
I then drove 11 miles home on the M40. Dry now!
Well, I am still unsure on the Wicked Wax. For 99p, it does seem to give some protection, and once you get used to it, it is ok to apply (half of the roof with one load from the pot). It seems to add to the finish, on black anyway, but does leave a nice finish.
Time will tell regarding protection, I will try and give updates. I will try and do a car with 2 or 3 layers of the wax, and will post that up here! However, my heart is still firmly with Nattys out of the two. It is lovely to apply, being very oily and slick, and beads really nicely, beading better the more you layer it up.
However, for 99p, I won't give up on the Wicked Wax. It;s raining outside, and it's beading nicely (will get some morning pics tomorow). Time will tell if it can offer killer beading and good protection.
