I have seen your thread great   but I need to know if it will fit my 1998 model year Puma.

The USA website says it will fit any car after 1996 but the UK site says any car after 2000

what functions do you use most ?

what years are your Puma's

Cheers Paul

Look under the flap below petrol “badge" and see if there is a OBD II connector!

I mainly use air intake temperature, water temperature, MPG and Instant MPG.

will look tomorrow

There will be a OBD connector, but it's the ecu connection protocol that seems to differ from the early to the late cars. For example, those bluetooth dongles off ebay (that are PWM compliant) work with the later cars but don't work in my early '97 Puma.

I'm not sure if these scanguages work off the same connection protocols as the dongles but I imagine they would have to communicate in the same way so I'd check with the seller for peace of mind.

´98 pumas are the same as ´97 right? And those "ebay dongles" work fine with them.

I'd have thought so, but they refuse to work on mine without a doubt! They run through the PWM protocol on the phone but just keep on going through the others over and over. Really annoying as would love to get the puma hooked up on Torque. Great ap!

Sorry, thread hijacking!!

OT: I'm sure it's a problem with the dongle. Mine works just fine with torque and it's one of those 10 pound hong-kong knockoffs

I need to get another ordered up as my neighbor has adopted mine (it works fine on Saabs, VW, Citroen, Late Fords etc). Will give it another go!

As to the original topic, I'd still email the seller so you've got some come back. Just in case!

emailed scangauge today and the answer is NO it won't work

I'll have to try and find something else

cheers Paul

If you have a android phone, it may be worth giving the dongle route a look. As previously mentioned, Torque is an amazing ap and even has plugins to allow graphical overlays in video's if you fancy recording your trip to work with revs displayed etc. You can also use it to read and reset ECU fault codes.

I haven't had time to play with it too much on my other cars so I can't tell you if it'll do everything that a scanguage can, but if I can get a dongle working with my car, I'll drop you a PM with the info in if you like?

I see on Pumapeople, Scangauge told you the Puma needs to be 2000 or later.
You don't say where you are, if you are local to me, I have a spare cable, so could connect my Scangauge to yours and see if it works.
