Right,
My car has done starship miles and, just for peice of mind, am thinking of changing the cam belt. But my question is: Do i have to change the waterpump on this aswell as the tensioner? Like i said, havent had a propper look at it yet and can't remember whether these type zetecs run the pump on the timing belt or aux belt like the older style engines.
Gonna have a propper look at the belt this weekend when i do the welding on my old fiesta to sell it. If its in good nick, it's staying! lol
Cheers muchly

The water pump is run off the auxilliary belt, but it is advised to have the pump changed when having the cam belt belt and tensioner done.Apparently it is possible to do the pump with the cambelt on, although its trickier

Like I said, cambelt has to come off anyway so may just do the pump aswell then, especially if its an arse to do it with the timing belt on.
Found out that one of the people I work with has the locking tools for the zetec engine. Think a sunday at work spent doing the belt, pump and clutch is definately in order :)

Doing the pump at the same times a wise choice.

I think, most people advise getting someone experienced with timing zetec engines to do it though as they are tricky to time up properly which can result in it running very badly or damaging the engine.

Of course only you know your abilities

Good luck with it

Cheers. Am doing it at work on a saturday surrounded by plenty of experienced mechanics so should be alright (hopefully lol!) Only problem i can see is the fact I have normal size hands, there is NO room at all in that engine bay! lol

Yeah I know what you mean, bring back the days of Mk2 escorts where you could almost get in the engine bay with the engine.

There is a how to guide on the other site iirc that might help you out

Other site? please do tell. Only done pinto timing belts so a twin cam is a new experience for me so any hints would be helpful ;)
