wing fitment?

I'm fitting a frp kit to my puma, bumper and wings arnt uite flush,,,, I've heared a few people mention, a piece of rubber between bumper and wings, any1 know what this is pplease?

The piece of rubber is a self adhesive rubber section shaped to a P. It sticks on to either side of the bumper where there touch the wings.
