How the blazes do you return a faulty car battery??

Hi guys, My Supra's battery seems to suffering a dead cell 2 years into its 3-year warranty, which is all well and good. The trouble is that it was bought from a company in Lancashire and shipped to Kent. As some of you can probably imagine, nobody wants to touch it to send it back! It's a...

Breaking 1.7 Thunder - All parts available, Kent, M25 J3

Hi all, Further to my For Sale where I concluded that Wildcat is unsaleable as a roadworthy car (unless someone is interested in it as a project), I'm going to have to sell it for parts. I've done a bit of research and determined some prices for things now. Photos are up here...

    2001 Thunder 1.7 Silver 76k in Kent

Update: The car just failed its MOT. More accurately, they didn't even start the test because it would have failed anyway. There's bodywork rust near the passenger trailing arm mounting and the subframe bushes are rotten. This car could be considered a restoration project, but since I've had...

    1.7 Thunder - What's it worth?

To anyone interested in Thunder parts, this could well be your lucky day. Since it certainly isn't mine. I tried to get Wildcat MOT'd, but the tester took one look underneath it and said there was no point. There's bodywork rust near the passenger trailing arm mount big enough to put a finger...

    2001 Thunder 1.7 Silver 76k in Kent

Hi all, Well, the time has come. I'm getting rid of Wildcat. People who've seen my posts will know why, but in the spirit of honesty, it's not the car for me any more. I'll be concentrating heavily on my Supra for the foreseeable future. The car is in great condition. Mechanically it's totally...

    1.7 Thunder - What's it worth?

I'll pretend you didn't say that, I absolutely adore the Supra ;) I get what you're saying, I was just hoping in some way that spending money and having all the work done on the car would reassure buyers they were getting a good one. At the end of the day it's still driveable and in good...

    1.7 Thunder - What's it worth?

Hi guys, So this marks the beginning of the end of my Puma ownership. No doubt some of you remember my long complaining threads and my epic rant in Therapy. I'll admit, if I could make a career out of complaining, I'd be a rich man! Anyway... Wildcat. It pains me to have to get rid of it but I...

Oil leak - power steering pump

It's looking likely that it was the gasket, thanks for the advice guys. I bought one today and fitted it, following ScubaSteve's guide. Will let the instant-gasket set overnight and try it tomorrow, see if that's improved matters. The metal around the rocker cover seam on the exhaust side was...

Oil leak - power steering pump

All right, I'll get a Ford gasket then. Thanks for the advice!

Oil leak - power steering pump

Thanks for the replies guys. The mechanic was the one who told me the persistent oil leak was from the PS pump, and I can see a lot of oil around the unit. Would the rocker cover gasket cover the pump in oil?

Oil leak - power steering pump

Wildcat's p!ssing me off again! This is it, the deal-breaker. I want to do the bare minimum necessary to get the car in a saleable condition then get rid of it. I've had enough of the atrocious build quality of these cars. This time, I've got three issues to fix - rubber boots split on both...

    Evaporative emissions control valve problem

Well, I got home safe, thankfully. I'll look into this issue over the Xmas break. I'm aware the error codes are now MOT failures. My Fiesta once passed its MOT with ABS and traction control lights on, not any more. Hopefully it'll be a loose connection or bad earth or something... oh wait, this...

    Evaporative emissions control valve problem

Hi all, I try not to post the panicked need-help-right-now questions, but this one could use a quick answer please! Is it safe to drive a car with an 'evaporative emissions control valve' issue? I've just driven Wildcat about 25 miles (20 on motorway), and when I got to my destination I...

Oil leak from bell housing... this car must be cursed!

That's what I meant by 'not conclusive', the digital history goes back to 2005. I don't have any paper MOTs. I just don't find it inconceivable, perhaps because it's a limited-edition, that someone has clocked it. Otherwise, I'm having a hard time explaining why so many things have gone wrong in...

Oil leak from bell housing... this car must be cursed!

Kind of pissing me off all this is going wrong with the car (see my previous posts) and it's got 73k on the clock. MOT history doesn't truly prove or disprove, but I'm suspicious it's been clocked at some point. My higher-mileage Fiesta never had problems of the same degree this Puma has suffered.

Oil leak from bell housing... this car must be cursed!

One problem after another... I put Wildcat back on the road last week after the ignitor in the Supra died - still searching for a replacement. And it's back to the old problem/fix routine, yay! I got it out to France with minimal fuss, then got sideswiped by a careless French idiot who couldn't...

    F*** cars. Really

I guess this deserves some closure. My original plan with the Supra was to sell it - my dad specifically gave me permission to sell it to help get myself financially stable. However, after a lot of toying with insurance quotes and giving the Supra a little spin around the block, I decided to...

Anyone know where I can get a fuel tank fixed in Kent?

Cheers Sparx, I just gave them a ring and they reckon they'll be able to fix a small hole in the tank - I'm not exactly sure how bad the leak is because I haven't seen the tank out of the car, but if the mechanic took on the task confidently it can't be too bad. They're booked up for at least a...

Anyone know where I can get a fuel tank fixed in Kent?

Hi all, Been a while. This isn't an issue with my Puma (please don't kick me off, I still have the Puma in the garage!) but with my current daily driver. It's got a leak in the petrol tank around or near the filler neck. A local mechanic's had a crack at it, but I think he's made the problem...

    F*** cars. Really

Well, that's another £435 spent. Wildcat's just passed an MOT, although I'm no closer to taxing or insuring it. Many thanks to my gran for insisting on paying for the repairs (I had practically no say in the repairs to my own car!). Silly thing is, I keep finding insurance is cheaper for the...
